If <em>Livin' It</em> was a vinyl album, I wouldn't even have to lift the needle up except to flip the record over or replay any one of the album's ten solid, hook-laden songs. In fact, its 40-minute running time is just <em>begging</em> for a vinyl release.

<strong><em>Love Changes</em></strong>, Lori Dow's latest record, is a testament to the virtue of patience. I could say that <strong><em>Love Change</em></strong>s grew on me. However, saying something "grew on you" implies that the record is not very good, and that I listened to the record so long that I convinced myself that <strong><em>Love Changes </em></strong>is better than it actually is. That is not the case. This is a solid but understated recording, and you have to listen in order to fully appreciate the album's many virtues.

There's a good reason for that. Ware has made some of the most recognizable and high quality soul and pop music of the last two generations. He co-wrote "I Wanna Be Where You Are," the Michael Jackson song that was on endless rotation on my parent's Hi-Fi stereo in the summer of 1972. Ware wrote "Inside My Love," the Minnie Ripperton soul classic that got introduced to a new generation when Trina Broussard remade it for the "Love Jones" soundtrack in the late 1990s.

The Berlin based duo, Funkatized, strive to broaden the definition of funk on their self-titled album. However, <strong><em>Funkatized</em></strong> is at its best on the songs that tap into the roots of funk. Unfortunately, there aren't enough of those songs on <strong><em>Funkatized</em></strong>. Many of the cuts also draw from techno and house music with a nod toward disco and those songs have a sameness that make a lot of the songs on <strong><em>Funkatized</em></strong> sound monotonous.
